2008 COSCA Team Tournament

The team tournament will be held on August 23-24th at the Medina County Fairgrounds.

2008 COSCA TEAM TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

1. Teams must consist of three one horse/one rider combinations. Pre-enrollment is suggested on or before August 9th, 2008. Pre-enrollment fee is $30 per team. Enrollments postmarked after August 9th will be charged the post-enrollment fee of $45 per team.

2. No substitutions in team members or horses can be made once the show has started on Saturday. If enrolling the day of the show, points will not count until the enrollment form is turned in and enrollment fee is paid – if you enroll late you will forfeit points in classes already completed. You do not have to be a COSCA member to compete in the team tournament, however, you must be a current COSCA member hold a current COSCA amateur card to compete in the COSCA Adult Amateur classes.

3. There are two types of teams that can compete. Walk-Trot teams are for exhibitors that are only showing in halter, showmanship and/or walk-trot equitation/pleasure classes. They may not have cantered at any COSCA show. Walk-Trot-Canter teams are for exhibitors showing in halter, showmanship and any canter classes. They cannot show in any walk-trot classes with the exception of the open walk-trot pleasure classes as noted on the showbills. Youth and adult participants can be on the same team – walk-trot and walk-trot-canter participants can NOT be on the same team.

4. Only classes designated with a WT or WTC count for team tournament points. WT classes count for walk-trot team points; WTC classes count for walk-trot-canter team points. Open classes with both a WT and WTC designation will count toward the appropriate division based on the top 5 placings in the class.

5. Points will be awarded based on the number of horses in the class up to a full class of 5 or more horses. Example: in a class of 3 horses, 1st receives 3 points, 2nd receives 2 points and 3rd place receives 1 point. In a class of 10 horses, 1st place receives 5 points, 2nd – 4 points, 3rd – 3 points, 4th – 2 points, and 5th – 1 point. No points will be awarded below 5th place.

6. Special awards will be given to the Top 5 walk-trot teams and the Top 5 walk-trot-canter teams based on the total number of points received over both days for all team members in team tournament classes. Points from Saturday will be posted at the entry booth on Sunday morning.

Entries into individual classes must be made on COSCA entry form for the appropriate day. Points from team tournament classes on both days will count for tournament awards. Please see attached sheet for additional information.
